busy weekends ~ hell ! busy everyday

I need to blog this schedule, so maybe even I can wrap my head around how hectic life is at the Lynch's these days.
Ok, today, Friday, is my wife's Monday.
This is my Friday and it's actually Friday.
By Sunday, my Sunday and actually Sunday, It's Jill's Wednesday. Her hump day, and Sunday night (her Wednesday) she needs to be in bed early, to be up at the crack of butt hole and be right back to work very early Monday. (her Thursday, my Monday).
I now take Monday's off, if you call, catching up on laundry, errands, taking teens with 'tudes to school and picking them up, then a meal for the 5 of us and any real estate that can't wait until Tuesday, a day off, well so be it. Jill gets home Monday evening (her Thursday) and we have a quick meal and are usually in bed long before teens with 'tudes, because she has to wake once again at the crack of you know what, and it's now  Tuesday, which is actually my Monday (remember, I take actual Mondays off. see chores above) .
just a normal everyday family
So Tuesday, my Monday, her Friday, we are now tracking in sync in the most bizarre way I could have ever imagined.  A rhythm  that somehow seems to be working. But truly bizarre.
But wait ! there's more.

So her Saturday is my Wednesday and actually Wednesday. With the 2 crack of you know what days Jill has had on Monday and Tuesday (her Thursday and Friday), she is lucky if she gets vertical on her Saturday. She is working her you know what off and it is very much in her best interest to do as little as possible . I encourage her to stay horizontal and catch up on Downton Abbey. I catch up on Golf all day Sunday (actual Sunday).
So Wednesday, actual Wednesday is Jill's Saturday night. Yee Haw !  ~ She has rested all day and wants to go out and experience adult things and go where adults go. Wednesday night in anytown USA, has to be the slowest night there is as far as entertainment is concerned. She also has another problem, on her Saturday night.  I went and got old on her, more to the point, Wednesday, actual Wednesday I need lots of rest for my Thursday's. Actual Thursday for me is always huge with my real estate practice, and old men need their rest. If I don't get my rest, I will and have, just fall asleep wherever it is that I might be. So her Saturday nights are basically a real pain in the you know what.
Thursday, actual Thursday, Jill's Sunday, she is pretty much on her own. I drop teens with 'tudes off at school, do mass amounts of real estate and don't usually come up for air until 12 or 13 hours later and roll in about 7:00 or 8:00 pm.
Thursday (actual Thursday) is my favorite night of the week because my wife actually prepares the meal. So it's not nachos or any of those Dad specials the teens with 'tudes get the nights Jill is working.
So this brings us back to Friday, actual Friday, teens with 'tudes hit the streets to polish their teen with a 'tude attitudes, I have this keyboard that occupies my time until Jill gets home at midnight.

Busy days, crazy schedules, teens with 'tudes, but...... on a brighter note, I did just get a text from my bride, she has booked our flights for Palm Springs during spring break in April. A finish line of sorts, or just a quick break in the action before returning on a Sunday, an actual Sunday.

10 Day Re ~ Boot

In business I was taught to make my toughest call or hardest and biggest challenge of the day, first thing. Then it's done. It still holds true, to this day I make sure whatever that might be, I just do it. Then it's done and the rest of the day is easy.
Right before Christmas my wife and I watched the documentary Fat, Sick and nearly Dead. It is a life changing documentary and our seed was planted. The host films his own story of going  out to lose weight by just juicing for 60 days. I could actually try something radical like that, but he suggests a 10 day re~boot. So that's what my daughter, my wife and I did.
A 10 day fruit and vegetable juicing fast.
I'm not fat, I'm just Dad (25 extra lbs) and never sick, but the nearly dead made sense because I have come to terms with, I am no longer young and won't be around forever.
My 16 year old daughter is vegan and when she heard us talking about our interest in the 10 day re~boot she wanted in.
So without a lot of thought or preparation, we just did it. 17 days into the new year, 10 of those days were spent on a juice fast. I now have the rest of the year to do as I please and the biggest challenge of the year is behind us.

Our daughter being vegan took charge and started making suggestions for our menu and very creative tasty fruit and vegetable combinations she thought we would enjoy. They were absolutely delicious.
Our dining room table for 10 days

Day 1 ~ Tuesday January 8th
Like anything, whatever you're about to begin is a radical shift, The 1st day is always exciting and you're pretty fired up.

Day 2 ~ is when I realized just how much fruit and vegetables we were actually juicing, to feed 3 people for 2 days. I had bought what I thought would be enough for 3 maybe 4 days, so by the 2nd evening I was back to the farm stand buying even more produce than what I bought to begin this 10 day journey.

"living well is the best revenge"
Day 3-9 ~ Over 100 carrots, 40 oranges, bunch's of Kale, 2 dozen beets, 50 stalks of celery, 15 apples, 20 tomatoes and the best, which I would now highly recommend, is fresh ginger. A few nuggets of ginger thrown into the kale and beets and now the drinks start tasting like lemonade. 4 major trips to the farm stand.  We had the produce spread across our dining room table.

a cobb salad with pasta

Day 10 ~ By day 10, a new lifestyle is under way and the hunger pangs are not nearly as frequent, you're not as cranky as say day 6 (watching the Seahawk's game) or as weak as maybe days 8 - 9 and now, the finish line was in sight.

Our first meal last night was a Cobb salad with some linguine and brie on the side. Bacon has never tasted so good but yet I got full very quick and I don't look at bacon the same way.

I am so glad we did it, we plan to have a few 3 day sessions throughout the year just for the benefits. And when Washington cherries are ripe this summer, a 3 day cherry fest would be fine by me. Then near the end of harvest this summer finish with a 3 day of local peaches.
Until then.........
The kids left 2 peanut butter filled cupcakes from Trader Joe's in the kitchen with my name on them.

1.15.28 ~ 11.15.86 RIP Dad

Add caption

My Father, Robert Francis Lynch would have been 84 years old today. He left us in 1986 at 58 years young.  I was 29 years old.
I am now 55 years old and I pretty much became my father.
A quick resume for my Father.

  • Father of 8 children
  • High School Teacher
  • Real Estate Broker
  • Ran for the California State Senate seat in 1968 (came in 2nd)
I could expand on the resume, but this is my father, not a job interview.

27 years ago seems like yesterday, but, 27 years is also a lot of life to be lived and because of my father, I made sure to live life as he did and he would have continued to do, if cancer had not taken the best of him.
Being the third oldest of eight children, our family was divided in many ways, simply from the age span.
He was Dad, is my fondest memory. The guy that would tell me all about growing up, sit in the stands at ball games and do silly Dad stuff around the house that I find myself doing with my own children.
He would load us all up in a 60's station wagon pulling a 60's Aljo trailer and off we'd go to New England from southern California to spend the summer with his and my Mom's families. He was an adventurer, he loved to travel, he loved to learn and he loved his family.
I think of him daily and the reality is, We have such a short time here. Death, divorce, growing up, moving out, traveling, starting our own lives can only leave us big warm places in our hearts to hold dear the ones we love and have met along the way.

Love you Dad
