the hard boiled egg that wasn't

Are we a snack society or what ?

My teens have their favorite snacks. Some are healthy, some are not. I stay out of their way and for the most part, we as a family eat pretty healthy.
The teens know one of my favorite snacks on hand in the frig are my organic jumbo trader Joe's hard boiled eggs. I keep no less than a half dozen chilled always.
A late night Cobb salad, an egg salad sandwich or if I'm in a hurry, I'll crack a few, salt and pepper them up and be on my way.
Standing over the sink dressed in some nice clothes because I'm a nice guy, I'm important, starving and need a quick snack. So I grab the bowl of eggs and proceed to smack one on the kitchen counter. This particular egg had not been boiled.  SPLAT !
This is no accident. This is teen abuse.
The process of boiling an egg is simple. Carton of eggs next to boiling water, eggs dropped into boiling water
for 15 minutes, then let sit in cold water for 30 more minutes. Voila ! The hard boiled egg.
So for a raw egg to be mixed into my boiled eggs can only be one thing.
Teen abuse.
They got me and they got me good.
I have no idea where they get this prank side to them from, but I will say this;
"the ball is now in my court."

I know ~ so innocent looking

3.13.13

The day started like any other day. I get in the car still asleep and get my daughter to high school.
Pulling out of my driveway I see this mess.
A dead tree on my property decides to snap and break.
In doing so it absolutely demolishes my neighbor's mailbox.
What are the odds of such a direct precise hit ?
The universe decides it's time for a decayed tree to snap and hits my neighbors mailbox right on the money.
Being a Realtor.
What is the liability here ?
The tree is on my property, but the mailbox isn't. Who takes the blame on this one ?
Or is it an act of God, or how about just "rub of the green" as we say in Golf.
Shit ~ really does JUST happen sometimes.

So I got my daughter to school and went about my day.
Later in the day I needed my real estate license number which is on my real estate license, which hangs in my agency like a shingle.
I'm trying to complete an online request for a short sale bid I'm working on and they were requesting my RE license number..
So I go back to the wall where all the agents licenses are displayed and find mine.
I look close and see that my license was first issued from the state of Washington on March 13, 1991.
So now I stop and realize today is March 13, 2013.
So I am celebrating an anniversary I had no idea was coming.
Purely coincidental that I needed my real estate license number on this very day and to see my license on March 13, 2013.
22 years later to the day.

22 years !
That's officially a career.
I ponder 22 years of selling real estate and more importantly 22 years of my life has come, and now gone.
I'm like the mole. Or what I call mole ing.
Head down digging away and occasionally popping my head out and saying "where the hell am I and how did I get here"?
I remember 22 years ago today very well. Like it was yesterday. Time really does fly.
The day my license was issued in 1991, my oldest daughter was 39 days old.
The perfect motivation for me to succeed.

2013 Palapalooza ~ Mom and son (4-11yr) event

Mom's and their sons start arriving right at 6:00 pm.

The boys are 4-11 years old and when I looked around the gym at the moms, I would say the average age was mid thirties.
These mom's and their boys enter the gym and it is pretty much chaos with games of every kind a 5 year old boy might enjoy. The best games are the interactive games where it's mom's vs their sons.
The evening is a fund raiser for a good cause at our children's high school. It raises a lot of money, which is nice. But the real joy is watching  these kids spending quality time with their mom.
What a blast !
My role is DJ and I take this shit serious. I'm given this remote and full use of the Capital high school gymnasium's sound system. I then  spend the evening cranking the volume as things get louder and crazier.

My Favorites from tonight's playlist;
  • 4 Beatles Tunes ~ Ob La Di, Baby you can drive my car, Magical Mystery Tour and Octopus's Garden. Thank you as always John, Sir Paul, Ringo and George .
  • 3 McCartney songs ~ Rockestra, Hi Hi Hi and Band on the Run.
  • Stevie Winnwood ~ Roll with it.
  • Tears for Fears ~ Everybody wants to rule the world.
  • The Plimsouls ~ a million miles away.
Nearly 4 hours of music on my IPod as I walk around the gym wireless providing the music for all the chaos.

Forever a humble promoter and servant to rock and roll.
